Since 1999, 11th May is being observed as National Technology Day, with an aim to commemorate the achievements of scientists, researchers, engineers and all others involved in the field of science and technology. Ministry of Science & Technology is the anchoring entity for the celebrations in the country.
National Technology Day is celebrated on May 11th in India to commemorate the country's technological advancements, particularly the successful nuclear tests at Pokhran in 1998, which marked a significant milestone in India's scientific and technological capabilities. The day also aims to encourage scientific temper and inspire young people to pursue careers in science and technology.
The theme for National Technology Day 2025 is "Empowering Indian Youth for Global Leadership in Science & Innovation for VIKSIT BHARAT". This theme emphasizes the role of young minds in driving India's scientific and technological advancements, aligning with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047
